Mandy Wimmer-O'Brien has played piano, clarinet and sung since childhood. She has more than fifteen years' experience teaching children, teens, and adults instrumental and choral music. Besides accompanying and singing in choirs, performing in bands and orchestras, and directing handbell ensembles at various times, Mandy also enjoys rehearsing and performing with community theater groups.
Mandy graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Music, Chemistry, and Political Science) from Millikin University. In April 2010, she successfully completed the Music Together Teaching Workshop, developed by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ. In June 2012, Mandy was awarded Music Together Certification Level I status, having demonstrated outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education. Mandy also enjoys teaching piano to students of all ages and maintains a private piano studio.
After teaching Music Together for four years, Mandy decided to bring her love of family music making to the Petworth neighborhood and Hyattsville, MD, by starting Tri Star Music Together! Mandy loves to sing and dance and thrives on making music and having lots of fun with her Music Together families!
